What Is Bathtub Refinishing?
Bathtub refinishing has many names: Bathtub reglazing, bathtub refurbishing, and bathtub retouching. Bathtub refinishing is the process of applying a coating to the surface of your tub. The finished product is a tub that looks brand new.
What Types Of Tubs Can Be Refinished?
This is a common question people ask when it comes to refinishing their tubs. The normal material tubs are usually made from are steel, acrylic, porcelain, cast iron, and fiberglass. If you were to hire a professional to refinish your tub, it would be easier to let them know what kind of tub you have.
Steps-by-Step Tub Refinishing
Clear out the tub: Make sure you wash out your tub. Clean out the easier stains and clear out the dirt. The tub has to be cleared of anything you can whip out of it.
Fixing the chimping parts: A mixture of a two-part epoxy, this epoxy is the mending glue to repair the chips in the tub. Make sure you fill in the epoxy in the troubled areas.
Sanding: After applying the epoxy to the necessary area you would need to sand it down. If you have sandpaper handy you should start scrubbing away. A sander would make the job much easier. This step requires the epoxy to harden.
Sand and clean: After the initial sanding you need to scrub down the whole tub once more. After you have scrapped the whole surface whip off and clean the excess sanding left behind.
Cover up: now you would need to place down some protective paper or plastic sheets. This is to make sure that any area not being reglazed is safe from the products.
Makeover: apply the paint finishing to the tub
